Hot rods are typically old, classic, or modern American cars that have been rebuilt or modified with large engines modified for more speed and acceleration. One definition is: "a car that's been stripped down, souped up and made to go much faster." However, there is no definition of the term that is universally accepted, and the term is attached to a wide range of vehicles. Most often they are individually designed and constructed using components from many makes of old or new cars that are most prevalent in the United States and Canada. Many are intended for exhibition rather than for racing or everyday driving.
For consignment, a Ratt's Fiberglass molded body over a Corn Husker Chassis creation of the infamous 1933 Ford Custom. Plenty of added goodies and now we have a turnkey classic ready for some street action or just an eye-catching cruise.
The sleek lines of old Henry's design have been taken a bit of advantage of to make this car emulate the original design but with a modern twist. Ratt's Classic did the fiberglass molding, and it is now bathed in the DuPont Hot Hues of a Cherry Twilight upper, and Psycho Silver Lower. The iconic shield style grille with its vertical ribs leads the way and just below is a small chromed rod stylish mini bumper. Wide curvaceous fenders have chromed head lighting perched on their tops with built in turn signal lighting on their lower thirds. The long cowled hood has some arrow stripes in the Cherry Twilight, and the fenders and running boards are sporting the Psycho Silver. A chopped top, shaved suicide doors and power trunk along with teardrop LED taillights and we have achieved the classic hot rod look that would make Bunkie Knudsen proud. In front the car rests on 14-inch American Racing Polished wheels, and 185/60R14 rubber, and on back larger 15 inch AR wheels are wrapped by 255/70R15 rubber. Light 'em up!
The neat thing about these fiberglass kit cars is that you have an open palette to do whatever creative pie in the sky ideas you may dream up, and actually put them on. This interior uses billet styled accenting to go with the silver vinyl coverings on the doors. A Cherry Twilight vinyl streak blasts through the door's centers. Inside silver carpeting floats 2 nicely sculpted and stitched silver vinyl low back buckets. More billet work for the banjo modern rally steering wheel currently atop a tiltable column. A beauty of a Cherry Twilight dash front has a shiny billet style horizontal ribbed panel for the VDO cream gauge cluster of instrumentation. In the very center of this dash is an oval panel which has billet styled vintage air knobs, and on either side eyeball vents direct couple air to the passengers. Just prior to the long Lokar shifter lever is a stainless polished fire extinguisher. Wonderfully simple but very effective in this interior presentation.
Again starting from scratch is a definite bling advantage as we now cover our eyes as we open the side hinged hood, and a reveal is worth a standing ovation! A fully polished 350ci V8 is shoehorned in, and topped with an Edelbrock 4 BBL Carb, a flame engraved air cleaner covering, all polished and looking super duper. On the back is a TH350 3-speed automatic and a Currie 9-inch rear axle. The Twilight Cherry bathing the engine bay adds a beautiful background to all this polished machinery.
As nice as the top side with all surfaces as shiny as such, and all Cherry Twilight. Noted is a flip up license plate done with an interior mounted switch. Keeps the po po at bay! Polished mufflers take the handoff of burnt fossils and air from the Hooker headers, and pipes. More beauty with braided stainless to move the brake fluid, an aluminum drive shaft. Also, there is now a Heidts front end working with independent coil over suspension, and in back a 4 link with coil over suspension. Disk braking is provided up front and on back drum brakes.
With 2 best in show awards and multiple 1,2 and 3 place wins it's a stunner and a runner. Fires right up with a nice roar, and quickly accelerates to the test track. Dead on straight panic stopping, and even snappy handling. The interior is well appointed despite its simplicity and the Vintage air blows nice and cold.
A true custom build starting with the Ratt's glass body, and mounting it on a Corn Husker's chassis, and while doing so making sure all is well on the eye candy front and mechanical excellences. A turnkey stunner and shower.
