1955 Chevrolet 210

1955 Chevrolet 210

The Chevrolet Two-Ten, or 210, was the midrange model of the Chevrolet car from 1953 to 1957. It took its name by shortening the production series number, (2100), by one digit in order to capitalize on the 1950's trend toward numerical auto names. The numerical designation '"210"' was also sporadically used in company literature. It replaced the Styleline DeLuxe model available in previous years. The Two-Ten was discontinued after the 1957 model year to be replaced by the Biscayne.

If you are thinking about owning a classic Chevrolet from the mid 1950s, you know something you can hop into and go for a cruise down to your local McDonalds, (it started in 1955), or just wasting gas cruising listening to early rock and roll tunes, or maybe showing off your girl's new poodle skirt, all in near showroom style, then this 210 will grab you and never let go. Immaculately restored, it is hard to find any fault with this car, the quality of restoration is that good. Every detail has been attended to even in the trunk where the spare would slide into, is perfect! Unbelievable. One Two Three O'Clock Four O'Clock rock…

Exterior
Bathed in HOK, (House of Kolor), Burgundy Tricoat Pearl Flake, this car had new reproduction fenders and doors put on, new quarter panels and a 1 piece floor with new outer rockers. All was block sanded smooth then paint applied. Same for all the chrome, badging and brite work, as it is truly gorgeous, straight, and near perfection. Glass is clean, and original and surrounded by beautifully polished chromed trimmings. The two side spear trim pieces are straight as arrows, and shoot their way from the rear quarter, to the doors, ending near the consistent gap, and shooting upward to the B pillar. Chromed Cragar 15 inch wheels have Firestone Affinity black wall radials outside and are on all 4 corners. Dual chrome tipped exhaust pipes peek out from the underside of the rear bumper, and those make this car sound great! Floating above on either side of the big trunk lid are triangular wrap around the corner taillights that conform to the beginnings of what will eventually become fins. Amazing.

Interior
Step into the time machine Dexter, as we open the door, we are met with styling right out of 1955 but with a more contemporary flair for the door panels with a molded armrest. A black and white motif plays the swoop spear game with a V pattern encroaching with the white uppers. Shiny cranks and handles are all in for the beauty game as well. Convertible style black and white split back front bench and solid rear bench works with the door panels to show off near perfection for these seats. Stitched tuck and roll black for the seats and 1/3 of the backs. The white takes over to wrap around the bolsters and upper backs. A black panel then steps in and frames the tops to the seat backs, which then all of this residing within a black tub. And lest I forget a slight V is dipping into the centers of the seats just for extra style. A black metal dash with the iconic twin fan shaped fans bump ups frame the speedometer, and passenger badging with a clock. 55 Bel Air trim is used for some extra accenting. In the center is a bowtie punched pattern polished strip that houses some knobs and the vintage now digital radio. Vintage Air is hanging below this beautiful dash. The steering wheel fronting this dash is courtesy a '59 Impala and sits on a tilt steering column. Carpeting is an absolutely spotless black thick pile and sitting in the center of the hump is a rare item in the form of a Hurst shifter with a Yoyo top. Above is a perfectly stitched tight headliner in white. Very Cool.

Drivetrain
Under the hood within a more burgundy tri coat pearl flake engine bay is a like new 350ci Chevy orange/red block. On top is a polished Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor. Cast ribbed valve covers, supple hoses, Wilwood master cylinder all highly polished are kept in temp check with a $3K radiator with a built-in condenser and dual electric fans. On the back is a 3-speed manual fully synchronized newer (year unknown and no need to have it rebuilt) transmission complete with a new clutch and flywheel. A 3.36 rebuilt rear axle is now spinning the rears. Headers provide the side exhale and polished stainless steel exhaust complete the system. WOW!

Undercarriage
Looking like new we can see plenty of orange/red painted floor pans, rockers and body hangers which are better than factory in their presentation. The frame has been powder coated in jet black and is also on new front and rear independent coil spring and leaf spring suspension. New brake lines feed power disc brakes on all 4 corners. You will need to buy a full-length mirror to show this undercarriage off when you park it at a show as it is certainly not to miss. Unexpected and Pristine!

Drive-Ability
With a car of such wonderful condition, we took it very carefully for our test drive, and did not want to have any markings on the undercarriage. All performed beautifully, all functioning perfectly and looking fab doing it!

A better prepared 55 Chevrolet 210 will be very hard to find, and this one is certainly an award winner, outpacing its higher trim level Bel Air of the same year just with its attention to detail. A really nice example, bordering on what we would consider concours, but with an updated engine, transmission, and some snazzy wheels. A wonderful preserved example, turn the key, pull into the drive in, and rock and roll. Sweet..Vintage…Minty!
