1995 Chevrolet Pickup

1995 Chevrolet K1500 Pickup

Celebrating 100 years of Chevy truck history in 2018, the American auto manufacturer has produced over 85 million trucks in the past century. With two brand-new Centennial special edition trucks released to mark the occasion, let's take a look at some old Chevy pickup trucks to see how they have progressed over the years. Co-founded by race car driver Louis Chevrolet and GM founder William C. Durant in 1911, Chevrolet had its fair share of rocky beginnings. While Louis Chevrolet left the company in 1913, Chevrolet became part of General Motors in 1918, the same year Chevy's first truck was released.

For consignment, a 4th generation Chevy and is in Fleetside form with an aftermarket Leer body matching cap for the bed. The extended cab offers up an additional bench seat in back with comfy seating positions for 3 adults. 4 wheel drive gives it snow and off road capabilities and is a K version.

Exterior
Bathed in Victory Red, all steel panels are looking fine up high, however, down low is a different story. The rocker panels are covered up with red duct tape that is hiding the rockers or lack thereof. Invasive rust has claimed them. Upfront halogen headlights with a chromed bumper option below are on a standard gray painted grille. The grille has a slight dulling to it and has faded just a bit over the years. The crew cab option has 2 additional side windows for the back seat passengers to have a seat with a view. Way back is a shortened bed covered with a Leer aftermarket body matching Victory Red. Within this cap are tinted windows and it gets taller as we move towards the tailgate. Speaking of which, is sporting some airbrushed vinyl wrap artwork of the American flag and a sunset sky and is removable. There is a painted black step-up bumper below and a heavy duty tow package just below the rear bumper complete with a 7 lead harness. To aid with a big pull, exterior chromed large camper style side view mirrors are attached. Rally style wheels are wrapped by good deep tread off road rubber. God bless “Merica!”

Interior
We can climb aboard and land our butts into a nice checked tweed light and dark tan broadcloth bench that is a 70/30 configuration with the drivers back and seat being the 70 percent. These seat backs fold down for easy accessibility to the rear bench in the same broadcloth coverings. A standard and original black dash front has all analog gauges, A/C and heat controls and a digital factory radio/cassette player. The remainder of the dash is in molded tan plastic and vinyl and is crack and fade free. A fuzzy padded headliner is above and looking good, and the floors are covered in rubber with a small repeating diamond embossed pattern. A sliding window is seen on the back of the cab and you can keep an eye on whatever cargo you may be carrying. The short bed is painted red like the exterior and there is a heavy-duty rubber mat in the center between the wheel well covers in the bed.

Drivetrain
Within the unrestored engine bay is an original 5.7 liter V8. This engine is fuel injected and has a 5-speed manual transmission on back. Having a manual transmission as well as overdrive makes it very versatile for hauling or trailering. The rear wheels are driven by a 14-bolt 3.42 gear ratio rear axle. Some light rust and corrosion are noted throughout this engine and bay. Also noted is a floor shifted 4x4 transfer case for ease of switching back and forth from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive.

Undercarriage
Some surface and bit of invasive rust is noted on this undercarriage. Close inspection reveals the spare tire wheel is heavily rusted due to it residing under the truck. Some heavier surface rust is noted in the frame and rear suspension of this truck. The fuel tank looks like it is newer. Body hangers are solid, and the front part of the frame has lighter surface rust involvement. Torsion Bar suspension is on front and leaf springs are on back. Power disc brakes are reserved for the front, and power drums for the rear. It is difficult to view the inside of the rockers, however we are somewhat suspect with the red duct tape on the exterior and did not attempt to pull it off.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and good driver and runner. Has plenty of power and comfy interior. The 4-wheel drive was fully operational and it's nice as it is not too high to get in and out. The Leer bed cap is a real plus as it keeps things out of the weather.

A good example of a 1995 Fleetside 1500 K version of an extended cab, capped rear bed, 4x4 pickup, manual transmission, and a HD towing package. Go anywhere, pull anything, and plenty of room for all the gear while doing so.
