2011 Cadillac CTS V Coupe

When the 2011 Cadillac CTS coupe debuted at the Los Angeles auto show, it was practically a given that General Motors would follow up with the ultra-hot CTS-V coupe at the Detroit auto show. With the CTS-V sedan's supercharged powertrain and other go-fast mechanicals fitted to the two-door's wedge-y profile, the V coupe is a sexy and formidable alternative to other existing performance coupes, the mightiest of which is BMW's M3. As with the regular CTS coupe, the V shares the sedan's 113.4-inch wheelbase, while being both two inches lower and shorter and with a one-inch-wider rear track.

Exterior
All CTS-V models feature a unique grille that doubles front-end airflow to help enable its high-performance capabilities, along with an aggressive front fascia and raised center section of the aluminum hood that provides clearance for the supercharger. This CTS-V coupe exterior incorporates a number of unique cues that blend function with aesthetics. The dihedral Cadillac grille, for example, is larger to enable more air intake and features a satin finish, while the raised hood encompasses the supercharged engine beneath it. The front and rear fascias, as well as a rear spoiler that houses the center high-mounted stop lamp, are specific to the car, as are its standard 19-inch wheels. These wheels are showing slight “curbing” scratches. High-intensity discharge headlamps with Adaptive Forward Lighting System are standard, and fog lamps are standard. All this is bathed in Black Raven (nevermore) and polished aluminum wheels. A sunroof, and rear spoiler are on for some added sport, all the while encapsulating you inside in luxurious comfort…a diamond of many carats for sure!

Interior
This CTS-V interior features streamlined instrumentation in the form of a trio of circular instrumentation on the central driver's side dash, LED lighting and hand-cut-and-sewn accents. We see performance seats with power controls and the heated seat option, featuring perforated suede microfiber inserts designed to hold the driver and front passenger in place during cornering. Complementing the performance seating are a thick steering wheel (with paddle shifters) and a gauge package designed for easy, at-a-glance reference during performance driving. Large instruments have bold readouts, including an LED-lit “tracer” function in the tachometer that flashes as the engine nears the red line. The gauge layout includes a boost gauge and a lateral acceleration display. Ebony black accents grace the center stack and this car features Midnight Sapele veneer wood trim package as extra accenting. Also featuring an audio system with navigation, including AM/FM stereo, CD/MP3 playback, Bose Surround Sound with 10 speakers, 40-gig hard drive and USB with audio connectivity, is standard, as is Bluetooth phone connectivity. Noted is a rearview backup cam, ultrasonic rear park assist warning system, adaptive remote start, heated and 8 way adjustment driver's seat, and above a power sunroof. All flooded in black carpeting which is pristine. Go fast but be styling' while you do it.

Drivetrain
With a 6.2 liter displacement and V8 format this supercharged mill puts out 556 horses, and 551 lbs-ft. torque. On back is a 6-speed 6L90 automatic transmission complete with paddle shifter option on the steering wheel. A 3.73 limited slip differential is on back and helps spin the tires!

Undercarriage
Absolutely clean and like showroom underneath with solid cast aluminum parts which are not corroded, solid floorpans and all very clean. Independent coil springs and power disc brakes are for the front, and on the back are more power disc brakes surrounded by independent multi link coil springs. Noted is the Brembo brake package.

Drive-Ability
In the lap of luxury, living large and going like a bolt of lightning, this chiseled form does not disappoint on the performance end. It goes on seemingly forever with the power, handles very nicely, and stops on a dime with the Brembo's. All functions were working as they should, and it is a luxurious and neck snapping ride that is for you and your passengers to enjoy, all while in ultimate comfort.
