Just over 36,000 Chevrolet El Caminos were manufactured for the 1981 model year. Part of the fifth and final edition built on the Malibu platform the El Camino was available in V6 and both 305 and 350 cubic inch variants of the V8. Horsepower was slightly reduced in each engine given the stricter EPA regulations.
