1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe
The Chevrolet Deluxe was a trim line of Chevrolet automobiles, marketed from 1941 to 1952, and was the volume sales leader for the market during the 1940s. The line included, at first a 4-door sedan, but grew to include a fastback 2-door "aerosedan" and other body styles. The 1941 Chevrolet was the first generation that didn't share a common appearance with Chevrolet trucks, while the Chevrolet AK Series truck did share common internal components.
For consignment an updated, slightly rodded, chromed, rounded form looking like the original 1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe. An updated engine, interior, suspension, along with tastefully retaining some original charm from the factory, this car is a fine mix of many contributors, some new parts, and all wrapped up in the original body styling. Might I say a wolf in sheep's clothing? Read on bowtie fans!
Looking at these curvaceous metal lines we are about to dive into the deep end of the visual pool which is draped in Forest Green. It is looking fab, and to add to it, there is plenty of chrome trimmings, all in very nice condition. A single front grille in chrome frames the lower front of this car, and just below hangs a bumper that grips tight with the front and body curve as it wraps around the front quarters. Just above the grille is a nice cloisonné Chevrolet badge with a bowtie in blue, and this paves the way for the hood mounted rocket ornament. Noted this is a split hood so be careful kids when closing it. Staring at the sides of this big slabbed auto, we see well minded gaps, and some nice chrome which encircles the lower greenhouse, wraps the windows, creates a front fender to mind door trim spear, and trims the lower rockers. A rounded rear fender continues the smooth line and has a chrome panel on its leading edge which attaches to the rocker trim. Even the lower part of the fuel filler door is trimmed. Badging is in chrome also, and in the style of your grandmother's handwriting. On back more beautiful sculpted round forms for the back of the fenders, a nice trunk key winged trim, and another form fitting rear chrome bumper. Just below dual exhaust tips, in chrome peek out “from-undah”. American Racing wheels in vintage style with gray spokes and chromed centers adorn all 4 corners.
More of the mixture of the original manufacturer's concepts, with lots of new add ons and upgrades. Listen up! Starting with the door panels which use a vertical textured broadcloth which is topped on the sills by body matching green paint. On the bottoms is smooth gray vinyl, and more trimmings which curve throughout the panel to frame the black door pull/armrests, opener lever and window crank. Moving inside we note late model gray velour buckets in high back form. The driver's seat is power actuated, and all have nice form bolsters on their sides to keep you in the seat. A custom fabricated center console runs from the similar styled rear split bench with a fold down central armrest, to the dash. This houses the automatic shifter and rises to the dash with an inserted aftermarket Alpine digital AM/FM/CD/MP3 capable radio, and a stainless woven pattern mounted storage tray. Just above is a trio of gauges which hang from the original styled dash. Speaking of which it is still adorned with all that vertical chromed ribbing, trimmings and knobs which look snappy in their gray painted metal background. In front of the driver remains the original circular cluster made famous by Chevy, as well as a column mounted tachometer just behind the wood rimmed rally style wheel. Floors are immaculate in their back carpeted rubber above matted state, and the headliner is a beautifully installed light gray felting complete with the stitched panels.
A pop of the hood and we are in bowtie heaven, only in its black painted form for the entire engine by which is highly detailed and worth a look see. Here we have a 1966 passenger car 327ci V8, (stamping code HCR: 1966 passenger car, 327ci V8, 275hp 4bbl), bathed in Chevrolet engine block red. On either topside are 1972 Corvette 350 heads. These are covered with shiny Edelbrock valve covers. On top is an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor which is topped by a chromed air cleaner cover. Nice matte black Sanders headers snake downward from either side, and plenty of bolt ons are chromed, or are in nice supple rubber covered form. On back is a Chevrolet Camaro TH350 automatic transmission. The open rear axle is courtesy a 57 Chevy.
As consigner states, “pleasing to the eye” and he ain't kidden'! It is very pleasing, with a new fuel tank, all shiny black extremely clean and solid surfaces and framing. Floorpans look great, and copper brake linings snake through this environment. These feed rear drum brakes, and now front disc braking. Body hangers are very solid with no rust in sight.
This 50s baby fired right up and sounded as good as it looks! It drove the test track like a dream with plenty of acceleration to propel all that big steel forward. Braking was sufficient and unbiased. All functions were working just swimmingly, a pleasure to drive!
A piece' de resistance for any bowtie fan, all buttoned up and ready to roll with nary an effort but the turn of a key. No wrenching or bodywork, or the druthers of any restoration. Just some regular maintenance and show up to a meet every now and again to pick up your big trophy…BOOM!!
