Model A Tow Truck
1930 Ford Model A Tow Truck
Starting life as a Model A of unknown design this vehicle has undergone some extensive changes to turn it into a tractor/tow truck. Affectionally known as a doodlebug conversion the car/truck/tractor is powered by a 201ci inline 4 cylinder from a Ford Model A backed by the Model A 3-speed transmission. Mechanical drum brakes are all around and the front end has a transverse leaf spring for suspension while the rear has no suspension. The interior consists of a black vinyl bench seat and the dash from said Model A. A PTO engagement level sticks up from the floor. On the back is the working end, a chain driven tow truck boom. This vehicle starts and runs quite well even after sitting for a number of years. It will need the one front tire reseated on the bead to be driven.
