2007 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
2007 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
In 1953, when GM executives were looking to name the new Chevrolet sports car, assistant director for the Public Relations department Myron Scott suggested Corvette after the small maneuverable warship—and the name was approved. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept and was followed ten years later by the 1963 second generation, in coupe and convertible styles. Originally manufactured in Flint, Michigan, as well as St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette has been manufactured since 1981 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette has since become widely known as "America's Sports Car." Automotive News said that after 'starring' in the early 1960s television show Route 66, the Corvette became synonymous with freedom and adventure," ultimately becoming both "the most successful concept car in history and the most popular sports car in history."
For consignment, a 2007 Corvette C6 version with some extras, one of these definitely being power boosting. Custom wheels, custom carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber spoiler, and hood matching convertible top. Throw in a sexy black leather interior with just a few red highlights and we are going to steer this nimble warship down a curved back road and see what she does.
Machine Silver Metallic bathes most of the fiberglass on this beautiful customized C6. Smoked plastic covers head and taillights to give the car a more menacing look. A Corvette cove is there on the front quarter, right out of 1954. A beautifully sculpted carbon fiber hood has been put on, and it has maroon striping in a black background, as well as shedding some weight. We see matching maroon canvas convertible top complete with a glass rear window, and this is power actuated. Out back is a carbon fiber small spoiler, and underneath the iconic round taillights is a cluster of quad exhaust tips sounding out of the center of the rear of this car. 19-inch custom Sport Muscle wheels with maroon surrounding mini trim rings take from the top, hood and spoiler to add some maroon to the exterior bottom end.
A swing of the doors and we are bowled over by black and gray molded panels which have some red highlights on the door pulls that also house the power windows, mirrors and locks. A large Bose speaker is on the bottom. Planting ourselves into the high back black leather buckets, which take you and push you firmly into the cockpit ready for the take off! You can grab on to the ergonomically designed steering wheel which is wrapped in black leather with red stitching, has shifter paddles, and peer into the gauge cluster which is all white LED backlit analog displays with red pointers. In the center of the dash is mounted a screen which controls all radio, CD, phone, Bluetooth, and USB functions at the touch of your finger. Below is a temp controller with digital display. The lower console houses the shift lever, suspension mode dial, and anti skid push button. Also, the handbrake and a nifty console mounted glovebox. Black carpet for the floors all clean and ready to rub your toes into.
A modified C6 6.0 liter V8 now puts out more power than the stock engine. It has EFI and a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. All looking very clean under the carbon fiber hood.
Rust free and all covered up with ground effects panels, we can note C6 suspension on front and rear, as well as power disc brakes all around, and stainless-steel mufflers.
Top down, spirits up, and foot to the floor (well, not right away) it was off to the test track. This car has definitely had some work done to it as it is faster than the average C6. It handles like it's on rails and stops on a dime. All the functions were working just fine, and the paddle shifter made me feel like Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel.
A touch of customization, some for weight loss, some for appearances, some for power, and all looking perfectly wrapped up sans the bow. A convertible and the stereo sounds good and plays a nice tune too!
