1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Coupe

The name Chevelle has origins in the Hebrew religion, particularly a female name which means “Bold and Beautiful”. These are two qualities an individual getting into the collector car market which are certainly important qualities. Bold due to the power produced, and beautiful as the second generation Chevelle is thought to be the best iteration of the history of the model. Chevrolet was hitting its stride in the power market, and the Chevelle was an integral part of this.

“Bold and Beautiful” for consignment is a great example of power and styling with this 1969 Chevelle. Ready to drive right out of the Classic Auto Mall and begin turning heads and snapping your neck.

Exterior
A recent full restoration, this car is now bathed in 2 stage black, and when looking at it, it goes miles deep. The cowl induction hood sporting a Chevelle badge sticker, and sloping fastback and side panels are straight and dent free. A triple painted spear stripe runs along the belt line and creates an arrow point on the front of the car. All badging is correct, new for 1969 side marker bezels, dual headlights, and a revised front grille cast in ABS plastic is seen. Plenty of shiny trim borders the wheel wells, surrounds the window openings, and drapes the bumpers. Chevelle SS rally wheels and rims are on all four corners.

Interior
White vinyl buckets with wrap around embroidered bowtie SS headrests in black sit in a sea of black carpet. This holds true for the rear bench, and door panels which have the same finish, all in good clean condition. A black padded dash in vinyl is sporting its original gauge cluster, and astro-ventilation round vents. Fronting this is a wood wrapped steering wheel. In the center of the seats is a small center console, with a big blue marble shift knob. An aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD has been installed into the original radio position. The headliner is unremarkable, and clean.

Drivetrain
454 Cubes bored and stroked to a consigner stated 496ci. According to the stamping this mill is circa 1990/1991 454 ci Mark VI short deck block. A new Quickfuel 4-barrel carburetor sits on top and passes fossils through an Edelbrock intake. The 12-bolt rear accepts power from the mill through a Tremec 3550 5-speed manual transmission. All hoses are supple and shiny, and we note no corrosion, an orange painted block and sexy headers. Dual Flowmaster exhaust expel the spent gasses.

Undercarriage
Nicely restored with all shining and no rust undercarriage, leaving no question as to structural integrity. A nice job well done under here. Power disc brakes on front and power drums on the rear, work with Independent coil springs on the front, and 4 link with coil springs on the rear.

Drive-Ability
Our muscle car aficionado ran this car through the Classic Auto Mall paces, and he stated it passed with flying colors. Lots of power, smooth shifter, nice handling, and similar to greased lightning.

As for the “bold” it nails the power part of the equation with bored and stroked to 496 cubic inches of Mark VI Short Deck motor. Appeal is certainly no problem, since it's a timeless Chevrolet coupe that's decked in ocean deep black which covers the “beautiful” part of the definition. A clean interior, and 5-speed manual certainly don't take anything away from this great example from 1969 Chevrolet division of GM.
