2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Carbon fibers or carbon fibers (alternatively CF, graphite fiber or graphite fibre) are fibers about 5–10 micrometeres in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms. Carbon fibers have several advantages including high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. These properties have made carbon fiber very popular in aerospace, civil engineering, military, and motorsports, along with other competition sports. However, they are relatively expensive when compared with similar fibers, such as glass fibers or plastic fibers.

As we say at Classic Auto Mall you never know what is coming through the door next, and my friends this is a first. Certainly not the first 2009 C-6 ZR1, but definitely the first car of any model or make to come through the door complete with factory packaging still on it! And even more amazingly a total of 12 (count em on your fingers and toes) original miles. Someone had the forethought to keep all that packaging on and not drive the car, but to home from the dealership. Amazing to say the least. Can you say restraint?

Exterior
The ZR1 is instantly recognizable, with perhaps the most identifiable feature a raised, all-carbon-fiber hood that incorporates a clear, polycarbonate window. The window provides a view of the top of the engine's intercooler, with the legend “LS9 SUPERCHARGED” embossed on the left and right sides, and an engine cover with the Corvette crossed flags logo embossed at the front. The underside of the hood has an exposed carbon-fiber-weave. Exposed carbon-fiber is used on the roof, roof bow, rocker molding and front splitter. These exterior components are protected by a specially developed glossy, UV-resistant clear coat that resists yellowing and wear and are featured on this car in Cyber Gray. Widened carbon-fiber front fenders with specific, dual lower vents, and a full-width, body-color rear spoiler incorporating the center high-mounted stop lamp, are also unique to the ZR1. All of the exterior features of the car were developed to enhance high-speed stability and driver control. Speaking of which polished chromed aluminum 20 spoke wheels, 19 and 20 inches respectively, are wrapped in 235/30ZR19's in front and 335/25ZR20's on the rear. Through these wheels blue coated calipers are peeking outward.

Interior
The ZR1's interior builds on the brand's dual-cockpit heritage, with high-quality materials, craftsmanship and functionality that support the premium-quality experience promised by the car's performance. The ZR1's cabin differs from the Corvette and Corvette Z06 with the following: ZR1-logo sill plates, ZR1-logo headrest embroidery, specific gauge cluster with “ZR1” logo on the tachometer and a 220-mph (370 km/h) readout on the speedometer and a boost gauge added to the instrument cluster and Heads-Up Display. This up level interior package includes unique, power-adjustable and leather-trimmed sport seats custom, leather-wrapped interior in black, navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and we are off to the races! But will you remove the factory packaging? Will you open the factory sealed sales packet, or even remove the laminated build sheet?

Drivetrain
Peering through the clear hood rectangle, we can see the beginnings of the Supercharger which is topping the hefty 6.2 Liter LS9 V8. With electronic Fuel Injection and a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 3.42 posi rear this car will produce 638 horse power at the rear wheels.

Undercarriage
I'll sum it up for you, LIKE NEW! (because it is!)

Drive-Ability
We did not DARE!

As I said, 12 original miles, factory packaging, and lots of carbon fiber and power. Will the new owner take off the packaging? Will they even get in to drive it home?
