2003 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster

You can hear a Harley-Davidson coming from a mile away. Some people love that loud, low rumble, while other people think it's obnoxious. Regardless, that "potato, potato, potato" sound is loved by Harley riders. They'll even modify their bikes to accentuate that growl. At stock, that sound coming from the exhaust emits around 80 decibels, depending on the model. To put it in perspective the average car is around 40 decibels at idle and only produces 50 decibels at high speeds. When Harley riders remove their mufflers, or put a straight pipe on, the noise increases to 100 decibels. Without hearing protection, that level of sound can cause permanent hearing loss in only 15 minutes.

The low seat height and boulevard styling, with drag bars and forward foot controls, give the XL Sportster 883 Custom a radical profile. The unique chrome speedometer mounting on the drag bars, the chromed, bullet headlight, and sleek, two-up seat add a little street-racer style. The wheel treatment, 21-inch laced front and solid 16-inch disc in the rear, adds to the custom styling.

Exterior
Vivid Black with two tone silver striping on the tank, leather bags upfront and in the passenger setback, and plenty of chrome make up the structure of this very nice bike. A tall chrome riser and drag style handlebar are noted as well as forward foot controls and low profile chromed rear shocks. Only 13,190 original miles, and a 2-owner bike.

Drivetrain
A silver powder coated engine with polished covers sits comfortably within the framework and is sporting 883cc's. This is an overhead valve V2 Evolution engine and it is in nicely preserved and maintained condition. A 5-speed transmission can put power to the rear wheel and provide fuel efficient cruising if you want.

The first owner purchased the bike then became pregnant, so the bike sat for its first two years. Then our consigner swooped in, and got much enjoyment out of riding this bike, and kept it well maintained. Now up for someone else's thrills to come.
