1938 Chevrolet Master

1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe

In 1938, The Chevrolet Motor company offered an upscale version of the Master (AKA the HB) and the Master Deluxe (AKA the HA) sedan. This was a popular car selling over 302,000 units, so a lot of examples survive. First popular with Hot Rodders because of the availability of parts, and the ease of replacing the engine, many versions and interpretations survive today.

This example of the 1938 HA sedan has had many modifications from the original to create a unique vehicle, while maintaining the original overall shape, and chassis. An interesting color combo, along with smooth wide fenders, and a new interior I give you the “Heartbeat of America.”

Exterior
A nosed hood covered in deep cyan starts at the re-chromed grille and makes its way back to the dual angled new glass windshield, as well as the upper portion of the car also in deep cyan. The lower portion of the car is drenched in white and shows shaved doors (operated by remote control) and frenched '62 Vette taillights. Engine can still be seen under the hood, due to the absence of side panels on the front end. Consigner states the side panels will come with the car, as well as the original hood. Correct headlights adorn the front fenders, which are attached to the rear fenders via a fabricated running board. A tinted rear window shows some delicate etching with flourish and a Chevy Bow tie. Some rust can be seen on the lower part of the driver's door, as well as minor surface rust underneath.

Interior
Seen are the loaning of a 1988 Grand AM interior with two front buckets in cloth checker pattern. A slight tear can be seen on the driver's seat next to the bolster. The rear bench matches the buckets, and seen in between is a console from same said Grand AM. Power windows, Air Conditioning and an AM/FM/Cassette have been added to the dash. Digital dash displays clean up the old gauges and are fronted by an adjustable stock Chevy Steering wheel. A nice headliner presents well and has a modern light and small storage compartment placed in its center.

Drivetrain
A new 350ci crate motor has been installed and is fronted by a larger electric fan radiator and backed by a TH350 automatic transmission. A 1966 Mustang rear end, and drum brakes on back, with disc brakes on front are seen. Front steering is standard rack and pinion.

An amalgamation of automotive history has been installed, upgraded, and matched for this “Heartbeat” creation. Exterior retains most of the original look, and interior is from 1988. All presents well with this restoration/creation which consigner states has 34,300 miles since the work was completed.
