The car consignment process is fairly straightforward, and the Classic Auto Mall makes it as easy as possible for both the buyer and seller. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you understand how the process works:

Step 1: Select a Consignment Dealer

There’s a reason Classic Auto Mall is the largest single location consignor of classic and collectible vehicles in the country – we’re very good at what we do.

Make sure you understand the process and fees. Classic Auto Mall does not charge anything up-front and you don’t pay any storage fees for the first 120 days.  When the car is sold, Classic Auto Mall receives 10% of the sale price as their fee, with a minimum of $3,000.

Step 2: Prepare Your Car for Sale

Before delivering your car to Classic Auto Mall, you'll need to prepare it for sale. This can include professional detailing as well as repairing any mechanical issues or blemishes. You should also gather all necessary documentation, such as the title and registration as well as any additional documents that may help sell the vehicle, such as original paperwork and window sticker from when it was purchased new, or records and receipts from a restoration. Did the vehicle win any awards or was it featured in a magazine? The more documentation, the better.

Step 3: Set a Sale Price and Sign the Consignment Agreement

Classic Auto Mall will work with you to set a price for your car based on the make, model, condition, and mileage while also considering trends in vehicle sales. It's important to be realistic about the price and rely on our expertise and market knowledge. Finally, you will review and sign the agreement with Classic Auto Mall that details the terms of the consignment.

Step 4: Deliver Your Car to Classic Auto Mall

After signing the car consignment agreement, you'll deliver and leave your car at Classic Auto Mall. To save time, it’s typically best to call ahead and complete all of the necessary paperwork before delivering your car, but it’s not absolutely necessary. You can deliver the vehicle by driving or trailering it yourself, or hiring a carrier to transport it.

Step 5: Sit Back and Let Classic Auto Mall Market and Sell Your Car

Classic Auto Mall will handle everything from marketing your car not only on www.classicautomall.com, but across our entire network of 65 classified advertising sites to get the most national and worldwide exposure. The staff at Classic Auto Mall will work with potential buyers to supply any additional materials or information to help with the sale, including images, short videos, hiring third party inspectors or even test drives.

Step 6: Completing the Sale

Once a buyer is found, Classic Auto Mall will handle all the paperwork and documentation necessary to complete the sale. This includes transferring the title and registration to the new owner as well as processing the payment and sending you the money (minus the 10% fee), via check or wire transfer. Classic Auto Mall will organize pickup or shipping of the vehicle to the purchaser. It’s safe, secure and hassle free.
