1923 Ford T Altered Drag Car

1923 Ford T Altered Drag Car

Drag racing was born in the dry lake beds in the California deserts. In the 1930's as engines got better and drivers got braver, speeds began topping 100mph. ... Races frequently took place on unused military runways with the first organized event dating back to 1949 at the Goleta Air Base in California.

7.50 @ 200 MPH was the best run for this altered “T” Bucket. Starting life as a Model T, then making its way on to a long racing frame to become a drag racer. Eventually moving on to “Exhibition” drag racing, which is responsible for the final car you see today.

Exterior
An altered Ford Bucket with a 125-inch wheelbase built by Aherd Race Cars. The chassis was fabricated by Jacobson Race Cars, and this car is certified by the NHRA for 7.50 times. Added for the exhibition part of its life and certified by ARMY to use its logos etc, are 3 machine guns on the car and a .50 caliber on top of the roll cage. All fire caps, and the rotating .50 cal. is powered by an air bottle. There are also 2 -.50 caliber guns with rotating barrels that fire caps as well. 4 Rocket Launchers that fire off Roman candles which can be controlled by the cockpit. Beautiful flame paint over purple which fades to white runs the length of the car. Also noted are laser cut ARMY logos in the sides of the back wing.

Drivetrain
A Dart iron block with a factory bore to 475ci, Dart aluminum heads, Donovan cam drive assembly make the main block.
