1983 Lincoln Mark VI Sedan

1983 Lincoln Mark VI Sedan

President, Chief, BMOC, Charles in Charge, CEO, Big Hat and many others of importance as these terms refer to “supposedly” important people of important positions and social status. And true to form these important people should drive a car befitting to their social status. We'll have we got the classic car of importance for important people. More importantly, it's in beautiful condition.

A priority as to importance and low, actually very low original miles (16, 728) our consignment brings us a 1 family owned since new 1983 Lincoln Mark VI of total class and distinction. And the condition reflects the mileage as it is just beautiful in every way, right out of 1983.

Exterior
With straight as arrows steel panels all squared off and rust free and well minded gaps, this cars exterior is bathed in Pastel Cadet Blue Metallic. Two rectangular doors in the body matching blue, cover the dual headlights which flank the shiny grille looking in Rolls-Royce styling, and front and center. A large pristine shiny bumper is below and on either corner of the front quarters are cathedral style running lights/turn signal lighting. The long quarter panels move to the 4 doors and on the way open up to a wheel well, nicely trimmed in stainless and some shark gill venting just behind said wheel wells. On the bottom of this car starting just behind the front bumper is a nice stainless trimming which floats on top of some metallic gray paint on the doors and rockers. Perfectly aligned trimmings are surrounding the glass of the passenger compartment, and on the B pillar between the doors is a running light. The back third of the roof is covered in clean and tear free light blue padded vinyl and sports an oval opera window on the C pillar etched with a gold Lincoln badge. On the back thin vertical taillights wrap around the angled edges of the rear quarters and the iconic faux sport tire cover is now molded into the trunk lid, complete with Continental lettering encircling the top end of the bump out. Another large rear bumper frames the bottom and wraps around the rear quarters to greet the previously mentioned gray metallic lover covering. Chromed wire wheels are on all 4 corners, and the consigner states the tires are new and in thin white wall form.

Interior
Opening any of the doors and in particular the driver's door, we have plenty of surfaces befitting a luxury automobile. We see brushed stainless steel toggle panels, chromed door actuator and lock panel, and a wood appliqué panel for accenting. All this is molded into a darker blue plastic door panel which creates the armrest and room for these panels. Dark blue carpeting is below, and a courtesy light illuminates your entry at night. The large light blue leather seats have aged gracefully with a few folds and some slight sullying. Plenty of extra padding for the lumbar portion of the seat and basically these are oversized buckets with a central fold down armrest. The back seating is just as couch-like with more supple leather and extra padding for these rear passengers. Blue carpeting is underneath these seats and is very clean and like new. Up front a square and rectangle designed dash houses a trio of square panels which have blue LED readouts for the fuel, speed, and a warning panel. The odometer remains the analog rolling kind. Wood appliqué nice and shiny is below this trio of instrumentation, and we see plenty of push buttons for the 3rd panel to the driver's right display options. Temp sliders and a digital display radio/stereo cassette player with an equalizer built in, is within its own wood panel below the dash hovering just above the hump. All surfaces are just pristine and nearly showroom for the interior of this luxury vehicle.

Drivetrain
A pop of the large hood and with a gentle handshake we greet a highly detailed very clean corrosion free engine and engine bay. The 302ci in V8 form is fed by EFI and has an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission on back. Way back is A Ford 8.8-inch 3.08 causing rear axle.

Undercarriage
Underneath one can see the care and pampering this car has had during its lifetime and it's been in a garage when not in use. Solid floor pans shiny exhaust which is original to this car are within the confines of independent front with coil sprung suspension, and a 4 link with coil springs for the rear. Power disc brakes are mounted on front, and power drums are on the rear. The consigner states recent new brakes have been put on all around.

Drive-Ability
As my partner in crime and I walked through the new consignments that have come in he asked me to pick one of the many choices we had available for the test drive, and I pointed immediately to this one. It has an air of sophistication, and is in such nice condition, I could not pass it up. Off to the test track where all this original equipment worked great, and the car drove like a dream. All conveniences are fully operational and A/C blows ice cold. You can also check the Marti report included for any questions about authenticity.

A caring family owned car since its inception, then sold to our consigner in April of this year, (2021), who felt he should put it into our hallowed halls under a chandelier and a piano next to it. Well, we currently do not have a piano, nor a chandelier, however it is still a star of the hallway show with its straight steel, blue paint, and all originality taking up some important space, but it's well worth the square footage it occupies. A seeing is believing kind of car.
